Exercise of the day: Hamstring stretch with rotation
Are you getting excited about warmer weather and the chance to hit the links but dealing with some low back or hip pain? This exercise is perfect for the golfer looking to unlock their posterior chain.

Start standing in front of a sturdy chair or bench. Place one foot on the surface with leg straight. Lean forward at the hips without rounding through your low back. Stay leaned forward and reach one hand forward and across your body, rotating in that direction until a comfortable but effective stretch is felt. Hold for about 20 seconds. Repeat with the opposite hand for about 20 seconds. Alternate, rotating to each side for a total of 3 repetitions in each direction. Switch legs and repeat. Watch your swing improve and your stiffness melt away!
Healthy Banana Bread: recipe courtesy of The Big Man’s World with tweaks from Sam Zimmer, tech at Aretas PT Hales Corners
Ingredients
2 cups rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
4 large bananas (approximately 1 1/2 cups banana)
2 large eggs
6 tablespoon maple syrup (can use honey or agave nectar)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chocolate chips (optional) (for a health boost, Sam suggests avoiding using the whole cup as the flavor can overpower the rest of the bread)
Dash of cinnamon, splash of vanilla (not in the original recipe, but is a must according to Sam)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F. Grease a loaf pan and set aside.
- In a high speed blender or food processor, add all your ingredients and blend until a smooth batter remains. Fold through the chocolate chips, if using them.
- Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan. Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes, or until a skewer comes out mostly clean.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let cool completely, before slicing.
